Paula Frazão

Hello, I’m Paula Frazão, I’m 42 years old, I live and work in Lisbon. I’m married and I have 3 children. I have been working in a school, in my town, for 11 years, with children from 3 to 6 years old.

I will try to answer to the 3 proposed questions, as follows:

The City is, in its essence, a way to new discoveries, offering a whole number of possibilities of pedagogical ways to explore in a sensorial level, aesthetic sense and cultural diversity.

The Educator needs to look to the city as a space for children, only that way they will feel themselves at a space conceived to their size and for their needs, it is necessary the exploration of the city in an integrative way for the child. The city where we are, we live in and we explore is part of us, it is our identity.

The city is a human construction in diversity with thousands of “constructors”/educators that leave their mark, through the construction of Monumental Buildings or small houses, so we are creators of our own space. It is necessary that “our” children feel that their city is their way of being, of living and expressing themselves. Educate in the city is to educate for the beautiful, learning to “see” diverse geometric forms, to feel that the city is their home and that the people who welcome them in their city make part of it.

I believe that the cultural exchange will strongly contribute for both personal enrichment, giving afterwards my contribute by passing the new experiences to the people in my country.
